UAE President Directs Aid for Displaced Lebanese in Syria

In a significant humanitarian gesture, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed an urgent aid package worth $30 million to support Lebanese refugees displaced in Syria.

This aid is part of the broader “UAE Stands with Lebanon” initiative, which aims to help the Lebanese population during the ongoing crisis.

The relief package is an extension of the UAE's ongoing efforts to assist Lebanon, following a $100 million aid order issued last week. As part of this initiative, six planes loaded with 250 tonnes of medical supplies, food, and shelter materials were dispatched on Sunday.

The International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council has also launched a campaign, inviting UAE-based institutions and businesses to contribute to relief efforts. The campaign, running from October 8 to 21, aims to unite the community in support of Lebanon.

Lebanon has been enduring intensified Israeli bombardments and ground incursions for the past two weeks, resulting in significant casualties and displacement. Over 1,400 people, including women and children, have lost their lives, with more than 1.5 million displaced.

The UAE’s swift response highlights the nation's commitment to offering critical aid to those in need during times of crisis.
