Abu Dhabi Reveals First Flying Taxi Vertiport Location

Abu Dhabi is officially stepping into the future of travel, and it all starts at the city’s cruise terminal.
The UAE has just approved its first hybrid heliport, a high-tech landing hub designed to handle both traditional helicopters and electric air taxis, also known as eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft). That’s right, flying taxis are getting real, and they’re landing right in the heart of the capital.

A New Era of Travel Begins at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal
The helipad at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal is being transformed into the country’s first certified hybrid take-off and landing site. The goal? To launch the UAE’s first air taxi base, offering a fast and futuristic way to travel across the city.
Passengers will be able to take off from the terminal and land just minutes away from major destinations like:
- Zayed Port
- Louvre Abu Dhabi
- Saadiyat Island
- The Corniche
GCAA Approved and Ready for Takeoff
This flying taxi hub has been approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and is part of a major collaboration between:
- Archer, a US-based leader in electric air taxis
- Falcon Aviation
- Abu Dhabi Aviation
The team aims to have the facility fully operational by the second half of 2025.
World-First Rules for Hybrid Skies
This project is about more than building a cool landing pad. The UAE is also developing the world’s first regulatory standards for hybrid heliports, a big step in global aviation. These rules, expected by July, will ensure helicopters and eVTOLs can operate safely together in shared airspace.
