UAE Launches First-Ever Virtual Lawyer to Fasten Legal Cases

The Ministry of Justice has announced the launch of a “virtual lawyer” project aimed at simplifying legal proceedings for straightforward cases. This new initiative was introduced as part of GITEX 2024.

First-of-its-kind in the Region

This virtual lawyer will be the first project of its kind in both the UAE and the wider region, using AI technology to streamline litigation and make legal processes faster for clients. The system will operate on the “Unified National Legislative Texts Database,” which will be developed by the Ministry of Justice. Legal firms that want to use this system will need to register and contribute data to the platform.

Trial Launch in 2025

The trial version is set to launch in 2025 and will assist lawyers by handling simple cases. Its features include voice-to-text conversion, interaction with judges, and submission of legal documents and memos. This AI-powered service is designed to speed up the process and make it easier for law firms to manage routine legal tasks.

Future of Legal Services

The project is part of the UAE’s broader push to adopt advanced technology and artificial intelligence in government services. The Ministry of Justice is partnering with the Office of Government Development and the Future, as well as the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications to ensure the project's success.

Cybersecurity and Privacy

User privacy and data protection are a priority, with the virtual lawyer being integrated into the UAE’s secure digital environment. Cyber immunity measures will ensure the safety of all clients’ data, following strict digital security standards set by the government.

This initiative aims to modernize the legal sector, improve customer experience, and prepare for future opportunities within the justice system.
