UAE Launches Campaign to Combat Online Hate & Fake Accounts

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Hamed, Chairman of the UAE's National Media Office, has introduced a new campaign to address the rise of fake online accounts spreading hate and division. The initiative, using the hashtag #ReportWithoutComment, aims to curb sectarianism, verbal attacks, and insults targeting leaders and national symbols.

Focus on Unity and Authenticity

Sheikh Al-Hamed stressed that the campaign seeks to ban those who offend and reject divisive rhetoric. He highlighted the importance of unity and genuine dialogue in fighting the spread of online discord. “These fake accounts only aim to gossip and create division,” he said, emphasizing the UAE's commitment to maintaining regional harmony.

Widespread Support Across the Gulf

The initiative has garnered support across the Gulf region. In Kuwait, former Housing Minister Yahya Al-Sumait praised the campaign, noting its importance in countering foreign-funded agents attempting to disrupt regional stability.

Jarrah Al-Qazza, Director of Public Relations at the Media Association, called the campaign a crucial response to the increasing number of paid accounts spreading division.

Security expert Hamad Al-Suraye also backed the campaign, advocating for coordinated efforts among Gulf countries to block fake accounts and protect regional relations.
