The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has announced a historic achievement: the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre recorded over one million air traffic movements in 2024. This accomplishment highlights the UAE’s growing prominence as a global aviation hub.

Commitment to Excellence

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the GCAA, attributed the milestone to the UAE’s forward-thinking strategies. "This isn’t just a numerical achievement; it reflects our dedication to advancing the aviation sector, a key pillar of our national economy," he said. Al Marri emphasized the UAE’s ability to provide innovative solutions and its readiness to handle increasing air traffic volumes thanks to cutting-edge infrastructure and a skilled workforce.

Sustained Growth in Air Traffic

The Director-General of GCAA, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, praised the team at the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre for their hard work and collaboration. "With a 10.3% growth rate in air traffic this year compared to 2023, we are committed to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency," Al Suwaidi said. He also highlighted the UAE’s position among the global leaders in aviation growth, with over 20% growth in air traffic over the past two years.

Marking the Milestone

The one-millionth air traffic movement was recorded on December 22, 2024, with the arrival of Emirates Flight 305 from Shanghai. This achievement underscores years of planning, innovation, and collaboration within the aviation sector, reinforcing the UAE’s role as a global air transport destination.
