The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced the Blue Visa, a 10-year residency permit aimed at honoring individuals committed to environmental protection and sustainability. The initiative was officially launched during the World Governments Summit 2025 on Tuesday.
First Recipients Announced
In the initial phase, 20 sustainability experts and innovators will receive the Blue Visa, according to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP). These recipients include environmental advocates, researchers, global award winners, and members of international organizations and NGOs who have made significant contributions to sustainability efforts both within and outside the UAE.
A New Addition to Long-Term Residency Options
The Blue Visa joins the UAE’s existing long-term residency programs, including the Golden Visa and Green Visa. It is specifically designed for those actively working to support environmental initiatives, reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainability.
How to Apply
Interested individuals can apply for the Blue Visa through the ICP’s website or mobile application. Additionally, government agencies in the sustainability sector can nominate candidates. Applications will be reviewed under approved procedures, and the ICP offers round-the-clock access to the service for eligible applicants.
