UAE Approves Three Lottery Operators, Shuts Down Others

The UAE is raising the stakes in the gaming industry, but only for a select few. Ahead of the much-anticipated debut of The UAE Lottery on Saturday, December 14, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) has clarified its stance: only three lottery operators will be allowed to operate within the country.

At the forefront is The UAE Lottery, managed by Abu Dhabi-based The Game LLC, which secured the nation’s sole lottery license. With a jaw-dropping Dhs100 million jackpot for its first draw, the lottery has already created a buzz. Joining it are two long-standing lottery activities: Big Ticket and Dubai Duty-Free, both of which will continue under strict GCGRA oversight.

However, the authority has drawn the line for other lottery activities, ordering all unlicensed operators to shut down. This means platforms like Emirates Draw and Mahooz won’t be making a return in their previous forms.

The UAE Lottery: A New Era Begins

Launched this summer, The UAE Lottery kicks off its first draw with life-changing stakes. Tickets, priced at Dhs50, are now available on theuaelottery.ae. Participants can pick six numbers (1–31 for days) and one number (1–12 for months). Matching all numbers wins the grand prize, while secondary and third prizes cater to partial matches.

For those who love instant gratification, digital scratch cards are also available, priced between Dhs5 and Dhs50, offering prizes up to Dhs1 million.

A Regulated Future

By streamlining the lottery landscape, the GCGRA ensures that UAE residents can enjoy safe, transparent, and exciting gaming experiences. The move also aligns with the nation’s broader goals of promoting responsible gaming.

The clock is ticking for December 14—will you be the next millionaire?
