Dubai drivers, take note! Salik has officially activated two new toll gates, upping the count from eight to ten. Starting November 24, 2024, the new gates at Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road and Al Safa South on Sheikh Zayed Road are live, promising smoother traffic and quicker commutes.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has strategically implemented these tolls to combat congestion on some of the city’s busiest roads. Here’s a closer look at what’s changing:

Business Bay Crossing Gate

This gate is designed to reroute traffic and ease pressure on key routes:

  • Better traffic distribution: Diverts vehicles away from Jebel Ali and redirects them to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
  • Reduced congestion: Cuts traffic on Al Khail Road by 15% and Al Rebat Street by 16%.
  • Time savings: Reduces travel time on Al Khail Road by 20,000 hours daily.
  • Less bottlenecking: Eases flow on Financial Centre Street with a 5% drop in traffic.

Al Safa South Gate

This gate is all about optimizing road use and reducing chaos:

  • Streamlined turns: Reduces right-turn traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Meydan Street by 15%.
  • Less gridlock: Cuts vehicle numbers heading from Al Meydan and Al Safa Streets to Sheikh Zayed Road by 42%.
  • Smarter flow: Improves traffic on First Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street with a 4% reduction.
