Dubai Fountain to Temporarily Close for Major Revamp

If the Dubai Fountain is on your must-see list, now’s the time to make that trip—because the world’s largest choreographed fountain is set to go dark for a while.

This Saturday, April 19, marks the final show before the iconic attraction temporarily shuts down for a five-month restoration project.

Originally announced by Emaar in February and confirmed again in March, the fountain's closure is part of an extensive upgrade plan aimed at giving it a futuristic facelift. Think: smarter tech, sleeker lights, sharper sound, and even more dazzling water choreography.

When is the Dubai Fountain coming back?

According to Emaar, the revamp kicks off in May 2025 and is expected to wrap up by October. The upgraded experience promises next-level visuals powered by advanced technology, turning every show into a fully immersive moment.

So, while the fountains take a breather, the surrounding Downtown Dubai attractions—like Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, and those vibey waterside cafes—will still be open for your weekend plans.

Why this fountain is such a big deal

Launched in 2009 and designed by the same creative team behind the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas, the Dubai Fountain sits in the middle of Burj Lake and spans the length of nearly two football fields. It shoots up 22,000 gallons of water into the air, some jets reaching up to 140 metres high—basically taller than a 40-story building.

The evening shows run every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm, and until the closure, you can also catch afternoon shows at:

  • 1pm & 1:30pm (Sat–Thu)

  • 2pm & 2:30pm (Fridays)

Want to get super close? The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk is a floating platform just 9 metres from the show, giving you a splash-adjacent front-row experience.

TL;DR: Your last chance to catch the magic (for now)

You’ve got until April 19 to take in the sights, sounds, and splashes of this Downtown Dubai legend. After that, it’s a brief goodbye while it levels up behind the scenes—ready to return later this year, shinier and more spectacular than ever.
