Tea VS Coffee Which Is Better For You?

We often go to tea or coffee for a boost of energy as they both are good sources of caffeine and antioxidants.

Coffee contains twice as much caffeine as tea and can give you and immediate boost of energy. Tea on the contrary, contains L-theanine which is a chemical that metabolizes caffeine slowly giving you sustained energy.

Coffee can help avoid various diseases as according to a study it has been found that people who consume a moderate amount of caffeine have a lower risk for type 2 diabetes than people who do not consume any. They were also less likely to develop certain cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases — including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's — and cancers like colon cancer, uterine cancer, and liver cancer.

What about tea for the tea lovers?

Black tea, for example, contains 48 milligrams of caffeine, while green tea only contains 29. Pure herbal teas such as peppermint tea and chamomile tea contain no caffeine at all. Unlike caffeine in coffee, L-theanine may provide anti-stress effects by increasing your brain’s alpha waves, which help you calm down and relax which is probably why you are advised to drink tea when stress. Studies have also found that consuming L-theanine along with caffeine — as in tea — may help you maintain your alertness, focus, attention, and sharpness.

Some people wake up to tea and others to coffee, however it is not only consumed in the morning as it is advised if caffeine your go to in the morning, 9 to 11:30 AM. And, in the afternoon, between 1 and 5 PM. These periods between natural cortisol boosts are the times where that caffeine jolt will be most productive. Instead of crashing between peaks, you'll maintain alertness.

For those who prefer tea then their energy tends to be lower after meals and in the morning. Based on that, it makes sense to drink tea right after a meal during the day. It is recommended to drink tea about fifteen to twenty minutes after a meal. There are also many benefits to having a cup of tea in the morning.
