Sharjah to Support Low-Income Citizens with AED 400/Month

The Sharjah Social Services Department has joined forces with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) to aid low-income residents with their monthly electricity expenses in the emirate. Under the newly signed agreement, eligible families will receive a monthly subsidy of Dhs400 to alleviate the financial burden of utility bills.

Partnership for Social Welfare

Signed by Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Head of the Sharjah Social Services Department, and Abdullah Abdul Rahman Muhammad Obaid Al Shamsi, Acting Director General of SEWA, the agreement targets citizens facing economic constraints.

Direct Assistance Mechanism

As per the agreement terms, the department assesses beneficiaries' actual monthly power consumption, granting the Dhs400 subsidy to qualifying individuals.

Additionally, SEWA commits to refraining from disconnecting electricity in homes housing elderly or disabled individuals reliant on essential electrical appliances. This action aligns with the "Let’s Connect Them" initiative, further supported by the department, which prioritizes energy and water efficiency measures for nominated families, thereby curbing utility costs.
