Road Closures Announced for UAE Tour's Abu Dhabi Stage

Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Zayed will experience rolling road closures on Monday, February 19, as the UAE Tour 2025 gets underway.

The closures, which will be in effect from 12:50 PM to 4:30 PM, coincide with the first stage of the prestigious cycling race, taking riders through some of the UAE’s most stunning desert landscapes.

What Roads Will Be Affected?

The eight-phase opening stage begins at the Shams solar power plant and will result in staggered closures along Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road between 12:50 PM and 1:45 PM. Further closures will follow near Liwa Palace and Liwa Hospital from 2:00 PM to 3:55 PM.

As riders tackle the steep dunes of Liwa, the race will take two laps of the Moreeb Dune cycle path (18.1 km each), known for its intense climbs and sharp descents. The final stretch will see road closures return to Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road from 3:45 PM to 4:30 PM as the stage concludes in Liwa.
