Homemade Condensed Milk

2 cups milk, full or low fat
⅔ cup granulated white sugar

  1. Combine Ingredients

    Pour milk and sugar into a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan.
  2. Dissolve the Sugar

    Heat the mixture on low, stirring occasionally, until the sugar fully dissolves.
  3. Bring to a Simmer

    Increase to medium-low heat and let the mixture simmer. Do not stir once it starts simmering to prevent crystallization.
  4. Simmer and Reduce

    Let it gently simmer for 35-40 minutes until the milk thickens, reduces by half, and turns creamy in color. Skim off any foam that forms on top.
  5. Cool and Store

    Remove from heat and pour into a jar. Let it cool completely before sealing. It will thicken in the fridge. Store for up to six months.
