A massive rally for peace organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) drew over 2 million participants across the Philippines, with 1.6 million gathering at Quirino Grandstand in Manila alone. The event, held simultaneously in 13 locations nationwide, called on government leaders to put aside political bickering and address pressing issues affecting the Filipino people.

Highlighting Key Concerns

The rally’s message was clear: it’s time for leaders to stop focusing on political infighting and prioritize solutions to real problems. One major concern raised was the surging cost of basic commodities, which continues to weigh heavily on Filipino families. INC leaders urged the government to create better programs and services that would directly benefit the people.

Nationwide Effort

While the main gathering took place at Quirino Grandstand in Manila, similar rallies were held in 13 other cities across the country. These included:

Luzon: Vigan (Ilocos Sur), Legazpi (Albay), Ilagan (Isabela), and Puerto Princesa (Palawan)

Visayas: Cebu, Iloilo, Ormoc (Leyte), and Bacolod (Negros Occidental)

Mindanao: Davao, Pagadian (Zamboanga del Sur), Butuan (Agusan del Norte), and Cagayan de Oro (Misamis Oriental)

The combined attendance in these locations reached 460,000.

Political Context

The rally also expressed support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s stance against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. The President has previously warned that such political moves would waste time and resources, diverting attention from improving the lives of ordinary Filipinos.

President Marcos, in December, remarked, “What will happen if somebody files an impeachment? It will tie down the House; it will tie down the Senate. It will just take up all our time and for what? None of this will help improve a single Filipino’s life.”

Unity and Purpose

INC’s rally emphasized the need for solidarity among government leaders and citizens to tackle the country’s challenges head-on. By gathering millions nationwide, the event sent a strong message of unity and a call for action to address social and economic concerns.
