Koffee With Karan: Why is Ranveer Singh Being Trolled by Netizens?

Star duo Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were the first guests of Season 8 of Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan. 

The internet reacted quickly to the couple's gooey romance and adorable moments from an hour-long show. However, the story of Ranveer and Deepika's first meeting caught the attention of internet users. 

Netizens were quick to bring back the Padmavat actor's old video from KWK's previous season, in which he talked about his first meeting with his rumored love Anushka Sharma, after the Ranveer clip went viral. The parallels between the two incidents are what makes this interesting, and it's what got the entire internet talking.  

Ranveer recalled the story of how he first met Deepika, saying, "There was a famous or infamous reading for Ram Leela at Mr Bhansali’s house in Versova. I was supposed to meet him before Deepika’s arrival. So I was sitting on the table and the door was on my left. He has these heavy doors and he lives by the seaside. So, these heavy doors open and the gush of wind comes from the sea. There, Deepika enters wearing this white chikankari, hair blowing due to the sea wind just like some sadgi ki moorat. I was like Oh My God!"

However, internet users quickly brought up the fact that Ranveer had done the same for Anushka when he co-starred with Band Baaja Baaraat in the talk show's 2011 fourth season.

Upon learning about this, a lot of fans were left perplexed as to whether Ranveer's stories of love at first sight were indeed sincere declarations of feeling or staged components meant to influence his public persona. All the same, the show undoubtedly started a discussion about authenticity in the context of celebrity narratives.
