Final Call: UAE Visa Amnesty Ends on December 31, 2024

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) is urging individuals in the UAE with residency violations to act quickly and regularize their status before the final deadline on December 31, 2024.

Final Opportunity to Avoid Fines

The ICP had previously set a two-month grace period from September 1 to October 31, 2024, but extended it for another two months. This extension provides a last chance for violators to fix their residency status without facing penalties. After the deadline, fines will be reintroduced starting January 1, 2025, and the ICP will step up inspection efforts in coordination with other government agencies to take legal action against those who fail to comply.

Key Deadline for Status Correction

The ICP has emphasized that this extension is the final opportunity for individuals to resolve their residency issues without incurring fines or facing re-entry bans. Starting January 1, 2025, strict enforcement of laws will be in place, and violators will face fines and legal consequences.

Most Violators Choose to Stay

According to the ICP, 88% of those who applied to regularize their status during the first week of the grace period chose to stay and continue working in the UAE, while the remaining 12% decided to leave the country.

Inspection Campaigns to Begin in 2025

From January 1, 2025, the ICP will intensify its inspection campaigns across the country. The authority will work closely with government partners to identify and apprehend individuals who have failed to adjust their status during the grace period.
