Filipinos in UAE Can Now Vote Online for May 2025 Polls

For the first time ever, Filipinos in the UAE can vote online to choose their national and sectoral leaders—no long queues, no embassy visits required.

Online voting officially launched on Sunday, April 13, and despite minor technical issues, the first day saw a strong response from voters, according to Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver. He said tech glitches were quickly resolved through the 24/7 support team of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

How to vote online

Eligible overseas Filipinos must be registered voters listed under the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate-General in Dubai. To cast a vote, here’s what to do:

  1. Enroll online via https://ov.comelec.gov.ph/enroll to verify your details.

  2. Cast your vote by visiting ov.comelec.gov.ph/vote anytime until May 12, 3 PM (UAE time).

Voting can be done using any internet-connected phone, tablet, or computer with a working camera.

No queues, more convenience

Past elections saw many Filipinos unable to vote due to long lines at embassies. Now, voters can cast their ballots from the comfort of home, even using a phone. “Only a few people came to the embassy for help with enrollment,” Ver said, calling online voting “secure, simple, and the way forward.”

The current enrollment rate is around 5% of the registered voters in Abu Dhabi (66,001 total) and Dubai/Northern Emirates (123,891 total). Officials expect this to grow before the enrollment deadline on May 7.

A call to action

Filipino officials in the UAE are urging more kababayans to enroll and vote. “Each vote helps shape the Philippines’ future,” said Consul-General Marford Angeles. “This is your chance to be heard. Let’s spread the word and boost turnout in the coming weeks.”

Overseas Filipinos will vote for 12 senators and one party-list representative. While May 12 marks the official election day in the Philippines, overseas online voting will run until then.
