Emirates Resumes Flights to Nigeria After 2-Year Hiatus

Dubai-based Emirates Airline has resumed its daily passenger service to Lagos, Nigeria, after a two-year suspension. The first flight since 2022 landed at Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) on October 1.

This renewed service is a welcome development for passengers seeking convenience and comfort for travel between Dubai and Lagos. Emirates now offers a daily flight departing from Dubai at 9:45 am and arriving in Lagos at 3:20 pm, making the approximately seven-hour journey smooth and well-timed. The return flight from Lagos departs at 5:30 pm, arriving in Dubai at 5:10 am the next day.

Smooth Global Connections

Emirates’ daily service between Dubai and Lagos is strategically scheduled to optimize connections for passengers traveling to and from major destinations, including Europe, the United States, the Far East, the wider Middle East, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. This ensures a seamless travel experience for both business and leisure travelers.

To further ease travel for Nigerian passengers, Emirates offers a convenient way to apply for 48-hour and 96-hour Dubai visas directly through the airline, an exclusive perk for Emirates travelers.

Comfortable Travel Experience

The Dubai-Lagos service is operated using a Boeing 777-300ER, offering luxurious accommodations with eight First Class suites, 42 Business Class seats, and 304 Economy Class seats. Passengers can expect the same high-quality service that Emirates is known for.

In celebration of resuming services, Emirates’ award-winning loyalty program, Skywards, has reinstated the previous tier status levels for members who were affected by the suspension. This ensures that loyal customers continue to enjoy their earned benefits and recognition.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, expressed his excitement about the return to Lagos, stating, "This has been a long-awaited moment, and we are excited to resume operations to Lagos, helping reconnect travelers seamlessly to and through Dubai, coupled with a consistent, world-class experience onboard."

Strengthening Business and Trade

The resumption of Emirates flights to Lagos strengthens connections to one of Africa’s major economic hubs, promoting global trade and supporting business relationships between the UAE and Nigeria. This move reflects the strong bilateral trade relations between the two countries.

Additionally, Emirates SkyCargo will play a crucial role in facilitating trade, offering over 300 tonnes of cargo capacity in and out of Lagos every week. Nigerian businesses will benefit from this capacity, with commodities like Kola nuts, food and beverages, and urgent courier material being efficiently transported to key markets, including the UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Bahrain.

Imports into Nigeria are expected from major markets such as the UAE, India, and Hong Kong, with common items being pharmaceuticals, electronics, and general cargo. Emirates' state-of-the-art hub in Dubai will ensure that all cargo is transported quickly, efficiently, and reliably.
