What is Emirates iO?

Emirates iO, as the name suggests, is an invitation-only tier within the Emirates Skywards programme. This discreet and highly exclusive membership is reserved for a select group of the airline’s most valued customers, personally nominated by Emirates’ president, Sir Tim Clark, in recognition of their significant contributions to the airline.

Who Qualifies for Emirates iO?

Unlike other Skywards membership tiers, Emirates iO cannot be attained by accumulating tier miles. It is available by invitation only.

These invitations are typically extended to key decision-makers, government officials, business leaders, and highly influential individuals whose personal or corporate travel expenditures significantly contribute to the airline.

An Emirates spokesperson explained, “Invitation Only (iO) is a highly exclusive tier membership within the Emirates Skywards loyalty programme that is limited to members who meet select criteria. To protect our members' privacy and the programme's integrity, we cannot disclose any further information about the selection process or membership criteria.”

According to some members, flying frequently on long-haul routes in Emirates’ premium cabins may increase the likelihood of being considered for this coveted membership. Additionally, building strong commercial relationships with the airline can enhance the chances of receiving an invitation.

Once selected, new members reportedly receive a personalized welcome note, a luxurious bespoke welcome kit including an exclusive membership card, and other premium products, all delivered in person by an Emirates representative.

Emirates iO memberships are valid for two years, with renewals at the airline’s discretion based on a review conducted three months before the card's expiry date.

Exclusive Benefits of Emirates iO Membership

Emirates iO members enjoy a range of premium services and bespoke amenities that go beyond the elite benefits offered to Platinum Skywards members. These include:

• Dedicated Relationship Managers: Members have access to a dedicated team of relationship managers available around the clock to address queries and accommodate requests, including using miles or securing last-minute bookings during peak travel seasons.

• Bespoke Meet-and-Greet Service: Upon arrival, members are personally greeted and escorted to the airport lounge and their dedicated seat on board, with their preferred meal choice tailored to their exact preferences.

• Enhanced Travel Perks: In addition to lounge access and private chauffeur services, iO members enjoy exclusive benefits such as a dedicated chauffeur drive from the aircraft to the terminal at Dubai International (DXB) when landing at a remote stand, avoiding the standard bus transfer.

When an iO membership expires, members are reportedly downgraded to Platinum status, which still provides access to premium benefits like lounge access, priority seating, and more.
