Dubai Honors Seniors with Helicopter Ride Over Famous Sites

Dubai has introduced a unique initiative to honor its senior citizens, offering them the chance to experience the city from the skies.

In collaboration with Air Chateau and the Community Development Authority (CDA), the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) launched the program titled "Autumn with Dubai Civil Aviation Authority." The initiative, which kicked off on International Day for Older Persons, allows elderly Emiratis to take helicopter rides and enjoy breathtaking aerial views of Dubai’s most famous landmarks.

A Gesture of Gratitude

The DCAA organized these helicopter tours as a way to show appreciation for the contributions of senior citizens. “We wanted to give them a unique opportunity to witness the beauty of Dubai from the sky,” the authority said in a statement.

A video shared by the DCAA shows excited seniors who were unaware of the surprise in store for them. One passenger, moments before takeoff, said, “It’s beautiful, nothing can be more beautiful.” Another participant added, “I feel so good, I want to fly.”

Leadership’s Vision

Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director General of the DCAA, explained that the initiative aligns with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. He emphasized that Sheikh Mohammed prioritizes the involvement of senior citizens in various community activities, aiming to integrate them into social and family initiatives.

The helicopter rides symbolize a small yet meaningful way Dubai is giving back to its elders, allowing them to see the city's beauty from a whole new perspective.
