Dubai Exhibition Centre to Undergo AED 10 Billion Expansion

Dubai is set to expand its world-class exhibition facilities with a massive AED 10 billion upgrade to the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City.

Approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, this expansion will make the DEC the largest indoor event venue in the region.

The expansion is set to roll out in three phases to accommodate growing demand. Phase 1, expected to be completed by 2026, will nearly double the current exhibition space to 140,000 square meters. The second phase, set for 2028, will bring the total exhibition area to 160,000 square meters, improving infrastructure and parking. By 2031, the final phase will add even more space, bringing the total to 180,000 square meters.

This upgrade aligns with Dubai's ambitious 2040 Urban Master Plan and the ongoing development of Al Maktoum International Airport. It will allow Dubai to host over 600 large-scale events annually by 2033, doubling its current capacity. The DEC will also feature a hotel, retail spaces, and commercial offices, further solidifying Dubai’s position as a global events hub.
