Dubai Could Be the Next Hub for Affordable Space Travel

Space Perspective, a company focused on making space tourism affordable, is exploring the possibility of establishing a launch site in Dubai. The company envisions offering travelers a chance to view iconic landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah, from the edge of space.

Michael Savage, CEO of Space Perspective, highlighted Dubai’s appeal as a launch destination. “This is one of the most beautiful areas we could launch from,” he said. “Imagine ascending over Palm Island and taking in the views from above.”

Expanding Interest Across the Middle East

The concept is gaining attention across the region, including from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. Roman Chiporukha, Co-Founder and CEO of SpaceVIP, a partner in this project, expressed optimism about launching operations in the UAE. “We are actively looking for the right partner and have seen significant interest here,” he shared.

Luxury Space Tourism for Everyone

Space Perspective aims to make space travel accessible, eliminating the rigorous training and physical demands traditionally associated with rocket-powered flights. Instead, travelers will ascend in a pressurized capsule attached to a hydrogen balloon, moving at a gentle 12 miles per hour.

Priced at approximately AED 460,000 per person, the six-hour journey offers two hours at the edge of space. Passengers can relax in luxurious seats, dine on Michelin-starred meals, and take in breathtaking views through the largest windows ever flown to space. Amenities also include a restroom to ensure comfort throughout the experience.

Michael Savage calls it “a balloon with a view.” The Space Lounge accommodates up to eight passengers and a captain, providing a premium yet approachable space tourism experience.

Strong Demand for Space Adventures

Space Perspective has already sold 1,800 tickets, with an additional 225 million in potential reservations. Interestingly, many of these bookings come from middle-class families.

“Some baby boomers are using their savings to fulfill lifelong dreams of space travel,” Roman noted. “They’ve watched rockets launch since the 80s and 90s and decided this is how they want to spend their retirement savings.”

What’s Next

As Space Perspective continues to search for regional partnerships, it remains hopeful that Dubai will soon become a launchpad for affordable space tourism. With growing interest in the region, this could mark the beginning of a new era for space travel enthusiasts.
