Abu Dhabi aims to break two Guinness World Records in NYE

Abu Dhabi is set to break two Guinness World Records lasting an astounding 35 minutes.

The New Year’s Eve (NYE) fireworks display, a part of Sheikh Zayed Festival, will light up the night sky over Al Wathba spanning more than half an hour.

The festival opens its doors at 3pm on December 31 while the show is said to be the world’s first ‘Girandola’ fireworks show (the Italian word for a spinning, flying, firework wheel ), and the largest straight line fireworks display.

The three-month cultural festival, running from November 20 until February 20, 2021, was recently selected as one of the five most important cultural events in the world.

There are also plenty of food stalls and food trucks showcasing local and international F&B talent.

Last year, Ras Al Khaimah made history with the New Year’s Eve gala of 2020, which won the Guinness World Record titles for the ‘Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Launching Fireworks Simultaneously’ and the ‘Longest Fireworks Waterfall’.
