A Columbia University Student Tore up Her Diploma for Gaza!

At the graduation ceremony of Columbia University's School of Social Work, a student received her diploma with her hands tied with a zip-tie.

After she took her diploma, she tore it up to commemorate the Palestinian prisoner whose name she had written on her graduation cap.

Another student at the graduation ceremony had the following written on her graduation cap: "Acknowledge the Class of 2024 of Gaza and those who will never graduate."

Another student wore a keffiyeh over her graduation gown as she walked up on stage to receive her diploma. Other students followed her wearing the keffiyehs and holding Palestinian flags and pro-Palestinian posters.

Columbia University has witnessed student protests for the past few weeks where students have been calling for the university to divest from Israel and for a ceasefire in Gaza.

These student protests led to the formation of student encampments and students protesting for divestment from Israel across various university campuses in the US and around the world.

Trinity College Dublin recently agreed to divest from Israel after the administration held talks with student protestors on its campus.
