The announcement came from Abu Dhabi-based LODD, experts in AI-powered drone technology. After thoroughly evaluating over 10 potential sites, these three locations were chosen for their strategic importance in connecting major hubs within Abu Dhabi. The goal? To set up a seamless network for flying taxis that will launch as early as next year. These flying taxis are not just for passengers—they’ll also support logistical services, making transportation in the UAE more efficient and futuristic than ever before.
What You Can Expect From the New Vertiports
These new vertiports will provide a crucial infrastructure for the UAE’s aerial mobility future. Early trials of small drones have already shown that they can carry two passengers for up to 35 km. But that's just the beginning—larger drones are capable of seating up to five passengers and covering a distance of 250 km, all while carrying up to 350 kg of cargo, cruising at speeds of around 185 km/h.
