Where to Watch the Blue Moon in UAE?

Stargazers will be able to see the blue moon in the night sky in the UAE August 30th and August 31st, just a few days after the sighting of Saturn.

A blue moon is a full moon that occurs twice in one month, so contrary to the name, this phenomenon is not named because the moon will turn blue, but because two full moons are being sighted within a span of 29.5 days.

The blue moon happens every two or three years, but a super blue moon is a rare celestial event that occurs once in 10-20 years. It happens when the Moon is at its closest point to the Earth.

However, NASA expects that the next super blue moon will occur in a pair, in January and March 2037.

According to NASA, only 3 percent of full moons are blue moons.

Residents in the UAE will get a chance to witness the blue moon here:

The Dubai Astronomy Center

The Dubai Astronomy Center is hosting observatory sessions at the Al Thuraya Astronomy Center in Al Mushrif Park. Tickets are priced at AED 60 for adults and AED 40 for kids under 13.

The Al Quaa Milky Way spot

The Al Quaa Milky Way spot in Abu Dhabi is the darkest place in the UAE and offers deep desert spaces and plenty of areas to watch the night sky without being interrupted by lights.
