UAE Launches First-Ever Digital Dirham Payment with Dh500M Transaction

Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Central Bank of the UAE, orchestrated the first-ever cross-border transaction using the UAE Central Bank's digital currency, the 'Digital Dirham.' The groundbreaking transaction, totaling Dh500 million, marked a milestone in the country's financial landscape.

Groundbreaking Transaction on 'M Bridge' Platform

Sheikh Mansour executed this historic transaction directly to China via the 'M Bridge' platform, an event coinciding with the celebration of the Central Bank's 'Golden Jubilee' and the graduation of 1,056 Emiratis from the 'Ethraa Emiratisation' program at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
