UAE Donates $64.5M to East Jerusalem Hospital

UAE donated $64.5 million to Al Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem to boost the hospital's medical facilities for Palestinians affected by the ongoing Israeli attacks.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed allocated a significant aid package to the hospital on Monday, Mar. 24 to support costs for operations, medical staff, and upgrades.

The hospital has currently employed 950 medical and administrative staff, which serves over 66,000 patients from Jerusalem, the occupied West Bank and Gaza.

Al Makassed also provides a specialised residency programme from which more than 540 specialised doctors have graduated over the years.

Since the start of the war, patients in Gaza have completely lost access to the facilities at the hospital, while patients from the West Bank have decreased because of the military restrictions.

In addition to this donation, a UAE charity recently donated 400 books to Palestinian children to boost literacy amongst the population.

The news about this major medical aid comes after an Israeli airstrike targeted Al Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza on Sunday night.
