Pistachio & Knafeh Basbousa is an effortless and indulgent Ramadan dessert. The base is crafted from crushed biscuits, providing a firm foundation. A rich layer of pistachio butter forms the creamy filling, while a semolina batter creates the soft, golden top. Topped with crispy Knafeh strands and baked to perfection, it’s finished with sugar syrup and chopped pistachios, offering a luxurious blend of textures and traditional flavors.

  • Ingredients of Pistachio & Knafeh Basbousa

Base

3 large biscuits
3 tbsp butter

Filling

¼ cup pistachio butter
¼ cup Knafeh dough, roasted
⅓ cup roasted pistachios

Basbousa

¼ cup semolina flour
¼ cup powdered milk
¼ fresh milk
2 tbsp cooking oil
2 tbsp sugar
½ tsp baking powder
  • Method & Directions of Pistachio & Knafeh Basbousa

  1. Make the base

    Crush the biscuits and mix with the butter, then press the mixture into the bottom of a 15cm baking dish to form a layer.
  2. Prepare the Filling

    In a mixing bowl, combine roasted Knafeh dough with pistachio butter and roasted pistachios. Pour the filling over the biscuit base.
  3. Make the Basbousa Batter

    In another mixing bowl, mix semolina flour, powdered milk, fresh milk, oil, sugar, and baking powder. Then, pour it over the filling.
  4. Bake

    Bake your pistachio and Knafeh Basbousa for 5 minutes or until golden brown at 220 degrees Celsius. Or you can bake it at high heat in an air fryer.
