Oman’s Shell Inks Long-Term Gas Deal

Omar Walid, vice president and country chair of Shell Development Oman LLC, has inked an agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, QQ, and Oman LNG. This marks the company's first long-term offtake deal in the country.

The company signed a term sheet to buy LNG from Oman LNG for 10 years. The Omani project will provide Shell with 0.8 million tonnes per year, it said.

The company has also signed two other deals related focused on hydrogen. Shell entered into Green Energy Oman (GEO), a consortium working on a green hydrogen project, in the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.

Shell also inked a third deal that is concerned with liquefied synthetic gas (LSG) with the Ministry of Energy, and Minerals to discover LSG in the country.

The new CEO of Shell, Wael Sawan said, “looking forward to now converting these agreements to action on the ground.”
