Dubai's RTA Sets New Nol Card Minimum Top-Up to Dhs50

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new rule requiring commuters to load at least Dhs50 onto their nol cards when topping up at metro station ticket offices. This change applies only to in-person top-ups; online transactions remain unaffected.

The RTA encourages users to avoid the new minimum by topping up their nol cards through the nol Pay app, the RTA website, or the RTA Dubai app. These online options provide a quicker and more convenient way to manage your balance without the new minimum top-up limit.

New Minimum Balance for Metro Use

Commuters should also be aware of a new minimum balance requirement when using the metro. Nol cards now need at least Dhs15 (up from Dhs7.50) to cover the cost of a round trip. Metro fares range from Dhs3 to Dhs15, depending on the zones traveled and the class selected.

More Than Just Public Transport

Beyond public transportation, nol cards can also be used for payments at a growing number of retailers across Dubai, including supermarkets like Almaya, Carrefour, Lulu, and convenience stores such as AllDay and Zoom. They are also accepted at various restaurants and public parks, where they are needed to pay entry fees, such as the Dhs5 fee at parks like Zabeel Park and Al Mamzar Beach Park.

Dubai's nol card continues to be a versatile payment method, now with updated requirements that users should be aware of.
