Dubai Makes History with First-Ever Jet Suit Race

Dubai hosted the world's first jet suit race on February 28, 2024, marking a historic milestone in extreme sports. The race, held between Dubai Harbour and Skydive Dubai, showcased the extraordinary capabilities of jet-powered flight technology. Eight contestants from various countries participated in this sporting contest.

Extraordinary Sporting Event

Organized as part of the Dubai Boat Show, the jet suit race was a collaboration between the Dubai Sports Council and Gravity Industries. Participants soared through the skies without conventional aircraft, relying solely on jet engines strapped to their backs.

Safety and Innovation

Ensuring the safety of participants was the top concern, with specially designed suits equipped with features to protect against drowning and provide extra buoyancy. Richard Browning, founder and chief test pilot of Gravity Industries, expressed his vision for the Gravity Race Series to evolve into a worldwide phenomenon. This race, he emphasized, is just the beginning of a new era in extreme sports, where human ambition and technological advancement converge.

A Historic Moment

As spectators gathered to witness this historic moment, Dubai once again asserted its position as a pioneer in pushing the boundaries of what's possible. The jet suit race not only showcased the city's commitment to innovation but also provided a platform for athletes to showcase their skills in a truly unique setting. With aspirations for future races across the globe, the event marks the dawn of a new era in airborne sports entertainment.
