All About the Flexible Work Guidelines Introduced in the UAE in 2024

The UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has approved a new framework elucidating various flexible work types at the federal government level.

This decision aligns with the Human Resources Law, encompassing full-time, part-time, temporary, and flexible work, including remote options like approved remote work within the country, remote work from outside the country, hybrid work, and compressed work. These flexible work types can be granted by federal authorities in exceptional cases, adhering to approved conditions.

To facilitate proper implementation, FAHR plans to conduct introductory workshops in February, targeting HR Managers and officials in ministries and federal entities. Emphasizing alignment with the UAE's future work governance strategy, the framework aims to ensure business continuity, performance efficiency during official working hours, and the attraction and retention of skilled individuals.

This initiative represents a significant addition to Human Resources Legislation in the federal government, enhancing adaptability and flexibility. It supports the UAE's future directions by staying abreast of technological advancements, adopting new trends in government work, and accommodating global shifts toward flexible work systems.

The General Framework for Employment Patterns and Flexible Work Types in the Federal Government contributes to the "We the UAE 2031" vision, focusing on building a pioneering and superior system. It aims to enhance government performance, develop business models, and manage human resources effectively, aligning with global best practices and ensuring the UAE remains at the forefront of progressive workplace strategies.
