The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has revealed a remarkable milestone: 4.8 million hotel guests stayed in the emirate between January and October 2024. This achievement represents a significant 26% increase in international visitors compared to 2023, with notable growth from key markets like India, China, Russia, the UK, and Saudi Arabia.

Cultural attractions have also thrived, with over 3.9 million visitors exploring Abu Dhabi’s museums, libraries, and cultural landmarks during the same period - a 21% rise from the previous year. These figures underscore the emirate’s success in leveraging its rich heritage and innovative strategies to boost tourism.

Driving Tourism with Vision

His Excellency Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the transformative journey the emirate is undergoing. “Our journey so far has been transformational as we continue to share Abu Dhabi with the world,” he said, highlighting the emirate’s bold Tourism Strategy 2030 and Culture Strategy.

The strategies aim to attract 39.3 million visitors, generate AED90 billion in GDP, and create 178,000 jobs by 2030. Key initiatives focus on city activation, marketing, infrastructure, mobility, and streamlined visa processes, ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth.

Tourism Infrastructure and Partnerships

Abu Dhabi’s tourism momentum is fueled by significant developments in aviation and infrastructure. Zayed International Airport now hosts 24 airlines, solidifying the emirate’s status as a global travel hub. Etihad Airways introduced 10 new routes this year, while Wizz Air Abu Dhabi connects 35 destinations across 25 countries, and Air Arabia reaches over 200 destinations.

These advancements are complemented by strategic trade initiatives like roadshows, training programs, and collaborations with global travel partners to promote Abu Dhabi as a destination for leisure, business, and cultural experiences.

A Bright Future for Entertainment and Culture

Abu Dhabi continues to enhance its appeal with groundbreaking projects on the horizon. The Saadiyat Cultural District will expand in 2025, while Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will soon feature a Harry Potter-themed area. Hudayriyat Island is being transformed into a hub for sports and adventure, and Yas Waterworld will undergo significant enhancements.

These initiatives, coupled with the emirate’s ongoing focus on crafting authentic experiences and fostering global partnerships, are positioning Abu Dhabi as a leader in the global tourism and culture sector.
