Abu Dhabi Police Deny Rumors of 50% Traffic Fine Discount

In response to circulating rumors, Abu Dhabi Police issued a statement on Wednesday refuting claims of a purported 50% reduction in traffic fines within the emirate.

Amidst the misinformation spreading across social media platforms, authorities emphasized the absence of any such discount initiative.

The clarification underscored existing penalty mitigation measures applicable for prompt fine settlements, urging residents to rely solely on verified sources for accurate information dissemination. Those who pay within 60 days from the date of the traffic violation can receive a 35% discount on penalties, as outlined by the Abu Dhabi Police. However, the police clarified that there is no ongoing discount of 50% on traffic fines, contrary to the rumors.

Highlighting the legal consequences of spreading false information, Abu Dhabi Police reiterated the severity of the offense under UAE law. Sharing false information is considered a serious offense, punishable by a fine of up to Dh200,000 and imprisonment.

Abu Dhabi Police urged residents to exercise caution and ensure the accuracy of information before sharing it, emphasizing the importance of relying only on official media sources for updates and announcements regarding government policies and initiatives.
