Abu Dhabi International Airport to Get a New Name

Abu Dhabi International Airport will be renamed Zayed International Airport, which will come into effect from Feb. 9, 2024.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed ordered the name change before the airport's Terminal A started operations on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed toured the airport on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Sheikh Khaled said that the airport was an important step forward for Abu Dhabi's economic and sustainable development. 

Terminal A is three times the size of the old terminal and with flights to 117 international destinations. 

The airport is expected to manage 45 million passengers per year. 

Airlines will be shifting their flights to the airport in three phases from Nov. 1 to Nov. 14.

Sixteen airlines are scheduled to fly from the new terminal from Nov. 1.
