2 Days to go for the Implementation of Minimum Speed Limit on AD Road

As the warning period comes to an end on May 1, Abu Dhabi Police has announced that the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road will have a minimum speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The first two lanes from the left side will have a maximum speed limit of 140 kilometers per hour and a minimum speed limit of 120 km/h

AED 400 will be fined for violating these lanes' speed limits. Police have advised drivers who want to go slowly or who are in slower vehicles to stay in the right lanes.

General Al Muhairi, Abu Dhabi Police‘s Director General said, “Implementing the minimum speed is aimed at boosting road safety. It will urge slow vehicles to use appropriate lanes.”

The UAE has taken proactive action by enacting the minimum speed limit to lessen the frequency of accidents caused by slow-moving vehicles. The initiative is in line with the nation's broad objective to increase road safety and lower the number of fatalities from crashes on the roadways.
