Small Mistakes, Big Costs

Some violations will cost you Dh500, like:

- Submitting transactions that aren’t for your workplace.

- Using e-Dirham (Fawry) for unrelated transactions.

- Forgetting your Emirates ID when submitting transactions.

- Breaking the rules in service centers.

- Not keeping promises made to the sector.

Bigger Blunders, Bigger Fines

Watch out for these hefty fines of Dh5,000:

- Misusing the system.

- Getting in the way of sector employees doing their job.

- Not cooperating with sector employees.

- Not paying for services you’ve used.

- Issuing visas or entry permits for inactive businesses.

- Delaying ID card registration and issuance.

- Waiting more than 30 days after expiration to renew your ID card.

Other Fines to Keep in Mind

- Dh100 for printing errors on applications.

- Dh3,000 for giving wrong information to service recipients.

- Dh20,000 for issuing visas or permits to inactive businesses.

Renewal Tips and Exceptions

You can renew your Emirates ID and residence permit up to two months before they expire, or six months early with special permission from the Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA). You won’t get fined for late renewal if:

- Your ID expired while you were out of the UAE for more than three months.

- Your passport is held due to a lawsuit.

- You didn’t get your ID before becoming an Emirati citizen.
