The UAE Ministry of Education has rolled out a strict ban on smartphones in schools following its curriculum, reinforcing efforts to improve student focus, privacy, and security. The move affects both public and private institutions, aiming to eliminate digital distractions in the classroom.
No Phones Allowed – Strict Consequences for Violators
Under the new policy, students and parents are not allowed to bring mobile phones onto school grounds. Those caught violating the rule will face immediate confiscation. A first offense means the device will be held for a month, while repeat violations result in the phone being taken away until the academic year ends.
Additionally, if any confiscated device contains unauthorized photos of teachers, students, or staff, the case will be referred to the “Child Rights Unit” for further action.
Schools to Enforce Compliance – Inspections Underway
To ensure compliance, schools are actively conducting inspections. Any institution failing to enforce the rule will face administrative penalties. This crackdown signals the ministry’s firm commitment to maintaining a focused and safe learning environment for students.
