UAE Launches 'UAE Aid Agency' to Boost Humanitarian Efforts

In a significant move, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has decreed the formation of the UAE Aid Agency, a new entity dedicated to advancing the UAE’s global humanitarian initiatives.

The agency will operate under the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council and hold full legal capacity, ensuring independent action in executing aid programs.

The UAE Aid Agency’s mandate includes the planning, implementation, and oversight of international aid, with a focus on disaster relief, development initiatives, post-conflict stabilization, and capacity-building programs. This expansion aligns with the UAE’s vision to support sustainable development and address humanitarian challenges worldwide.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, highlighted the new agency's roots in the UAE’s longstanding commitment to philanthropy, inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He stated, “The UAE Aid Agency represents the continuation of a humanitarian path set by our Founding Father and reflects the UAE’s unwavering dedication to global support.”

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the strategic approach of the agency in boosting the effectiveness of the UAE’s international aid programs, reinforcing the nation’s leadership in humanitarian outreach.

Since its founding, the UAE has contributed over $98 billion (AED 360 billion) in aid, impacting over one billion people globally. This new agency is poised to enhance those efforts further, cementing the UAE’s place as a leader in humanitarian aid and development.
