UAE Landmarks Illuminated in Moroccan Flag Colors in Show of Support

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) lit up two of its most iconic landmarks in the colors of the Moroccan flag on Sunday night in a show of solidarity after a deadly earthquake struck the country.

The Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, and the Adnoc headquarters in Abu Dhabi were both illuminated in red, green, and yellow, the colors of the Moroccan flag. The messages "We stand with Morocco" and "Moroccan people, we are with you" were also displayed on the buildings.

“From the UAE, our deepest condolences to the Moroccan people,” read a message displayed on the Adnoc building, in footage shared by Abu Dhabi Media Office.

“Our thoughts are with Morocco”.

The death toll from the earthquake in Morocco is expected to rise as rescue workers continue to search for survivors. The quake destroyed many buildings in mountain villages and ancient cities, forcing people to flee their homes.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan offered his condolences to King Mohammed VI of Morocco and the Moroccan people for the loss of life and destruction caused by the earthquake. He also pledged the UAE's support for Morocco in the relief effort. King Mohammed expressed his appreciation for the gesture.
