UAE Introduces First-Ever National Identity Mark for Private Schools

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched the UAE's first National Identity Mark.

The National Identity Mark is a new annual evaluation system for private schools in the emirate that provides parents with a clear and comprehensive picture of the quality of the national identity programs approved in schools.

Abu Dhabi's schools will now be inspected and ranked as "Outstanding", "Good", "Acceptable", or "Weak" based on the quality of their national identity programs.

The evaluation will be announced at the end of the current academic year.

The National Identity Mark will also boost school transparency and empower parents to select the ideal school environments for their children.

The evaluation framework covers three main domains, each with three relevant dimensions.

The first domain is culture, which will include history, heritage and Arabic language, which represent a key focus area within the framework.

The second is values including respect, compassion, and global understanding, while the third domain is the citizenship, which will include belonging, volunteering, and conservation.

ADEK will give priority to schools with the largest number of Emirati students in the first phase.

Schools without national enrollment may request an evaluation if they have relevant programs and activities that immerse expatriate students in the country's rich heritage.
