UAE Announces New Year Holiday for Public Sector

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced on Friday, Dec. 20 that public sector employees will get a day off on Wednesday, Jan. 1 as a New Year holiday.

The New Year Holiday is among the public holidays set for 2025 by the UAE Cabinet along with Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha, Eid Al Etihad (UAE Union Day), and the Hijri New Year (Islamic New Year).

The federal government staff will resume work on Jan. 2.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will confirm the New Year holiday for the private sector.

Various venues across the UAE will be hosting exciting fireworks shows to welcome the New Year, which individuals can enjoy with their loved ones.
