UAE Announces Eid al-Adha 2024 Holidays for Private Sector

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has officially declared the Eid al-Adha 2024 holidays for the private sector. Employees will enjoy a four-day break, starting from Saturday, June 15, and extending through Tuesday, June 18.

The holiday begins with Arafah Day, the holiest day in Islam, which falls on Dhul Hijjah 9 according to the Hijri calendar. This year, Arafah Day aligns with Saturday, June 15, in the Gregorian calendar, and is designated as a paid holiday.

Following Arafah Day, the private sector will observe a three-day holiday for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. These days correspond to Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12 on the Hijri calendar, translating to June 16 to June 18 on the Gregorian calendar.

This announcement allows employees in the private sector to plan for the extended break, celebrating one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar. Eid al-Adha commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, and it is marked by communal prayers, feasts, and charitable activities.
