The UAE’s operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects, Masdar, will develop the largest rooftop-located solar PV and provide an estimated 16,000 solar modules across the Warner Brother theme park roof area in Abu Dhabi that spreads across 36,000 square meters of area as part of the agreement with developer Miral.
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar said, "According to the World Green Building Council (WGBC), building-related emissions contribute almost 55 per cent of global electricity demand and optimizing energy efficiency in the built environment is critical to achieving the UAE's clean energy goals,”
The entire project is in line with Abu Dhabi’s 2030 energy efficiency strategy which is to reduce overall electricity consumption by 22 percent added Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi.
Renewable energy projects have gained popularity as the world has shifted towards reducing its carbon footprint.
Masdar is entirely owned by Mubadala Investment Company and is a central player in the renewable energy sector, exceeding 5 gigawatts, in the projects they’ve partnered with along with a combined investment of $14.3 billion across more than 30 countries and it plans to expand its footprint in North America too.
