Suspect Faces Charges After Vancouver Lapu Lapu Day Tragedy

A tragic crash shook Vancouver over the weekend after a man drove an SUV into a Filipino block party crowd, killing 11 people and injuring more than two dozen others. The victims, whose ages range from 5 to 65 years old, were gathered to celebrate Lapu Lapu Day near Fraser Street and East 43rd Avenue.
Suspect Arrested at the Scene
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Kai-Ji Adam Lo, was arrested immediately at the scene. Police said bystanders and witnesses helped detain him before officers arrived. Lo has been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder so far and remains in custody after his first court appearance. Authorities said more charges are likely as investigations continue.
Ongoing Investigation and Support for Families
Not all the victims from the incident have been identified yet. Vancouver Police have set up a 24-hour family assistance center at Douglas Park Community Centre for those trying to contact missing loved ones. Families can also reach out directly by calling 604-717-3321 to speak with a victim-liaison officer.
Police Call for More Witnesses
Police are still urging witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500. Anyone with photos or videos of the incident can also upload them to the Vancouver Police Department’s online portal at vpd.ca.
