Students in the UAE to Have Two Weeks' of Holidays During Ramadan

Many schools in the UAE will give their students up to two weeks of vacation during Ramadan, local media reported. Depending on the specific sighting of the moon, Ramadan is predicted to start around March 23 and end on April 21.

March marks the conclusion of the academic year for many schools that follow the Indian curriculum, and this year, the break before the new year begins also coincides with the start of Ramadan.

During Ramadan, students all around the UAE may anticipate reduced school hours. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) of Dubai issued a directive to all schools the previous year stating that classes should not go longer than five hours during the holy month.

The holy month is expected to last 29 days, with the first day of Eid Al Fitr likely falling on Friday, April 21. Residents of the UAE will get a four-day holiday for the Islamic festival, which is expected to take place from Thursday, April 20, to Sunday, April 23. Fasting hours in the UAE will last up to 14 hours.
