Sharjah Approves New Salary Scale for Public Sector

The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has approved a new salary system for all public sector employees in the Sharjah government. The revised structure introduces two new job grades—‘Special A’ and ‘Special B’—and sets a standard four-year duration per grade across all employment levels.

This move is designed to provide better job stability and clearer career advancement for Emirati nationals working in the government.

Engineers Get a Separate Revised Pay Structure

In addition to the general salary update, Emirati engineers working in the government will also benefit from a revised pay scale. A new ‘Special’ grade is being introduced just for them, along with updates to current job titles. Like the general system, engineers will also follow a four-year cycle per job level.

Faster Promotions for Hardworking Employees

According to Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, head of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, the updated salary scale will be implemented after coordination with relevant departments. He said the new system offers employees a faster track to promotion, unlike the previous setup where promotions took many years after reaching the first grade.

Al Zaabi also encouraged government staff to stay committed and motivated, noting that the added grades were meant as a reward for dedication and performance.

What This Means for Workers

The new structure is a shift towards more flexible career progression in the public sector. Employees who work hard will now have better chances to rise through the ranks, making government jobs more attractive for young Emiratis entering the workforce.

The implementation is part of ongoing efforts to improve work conditions and opportunities in Sharjah’s public sector.
