Record-Breaking NYE Fireworks and Drones in the UAE

The UAE is no stranger to going all out for New Year's Eve, and 2025 was no exception. This year, several world records were up for grabs, with Ras Al Khaimah leading the charge with two new Guinness World Records.

Ras Al Khaimah's Record-Breaking Displays

Ras Al Khaimah made a splash with its incredible drones and fireworks show, earning two Guinness World Records. The first record was for the largest aerial display of a tree formed by drones, while the second was for the largest aerial image of a seashell, also created with drones.

The show, set against the beautiful Ras Al Khaimah waterfront, featured a stunning heritage theme. It combined traditional fireworks with 3D drone artistry, spanning a remarkable 5 kilometers across the coastline.

Raki Phillips, Chief Executive of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, expressed pride in the achievement: "Securing two Guinness World Records titles with such a spectacular and meaningful display reflects the innovative spirit and cultural pride that define our emirate."

A Heritage-Inspired Show

The New Year's Eve event, titled Our Story in the Sky, highlighted the emirate's rich history and culture. It featured cultural symbols such as its diverse ecosystem, pearl diving legacy, and seafaring history. Over 100,000 residents and visitors gathered to enjoy the breathtaking show.

Phil Grucci, CEO of Grucci, the American company behind the fireworks, commented, "It feels great to be back to Ras Al Khaimah. It is actually one of the best stages we have to perform on." British company Sky Magic joined the event for the drone element, which took about four months of planning.

A History of Record-Breaking New Year's Eve Shows

Ras Al Khaimah’s New Year's Eve celebrations have been a major contender in the world record race for years. In 2024, the emirate set records for the longest chain of aquatic floating fireworks (5.8 km) and the longest straight-line drone display (2 km).

"This show marks the sixth year in a row that we attempted two Guinness World Records titles," said Phillips. "Our aim is to position Ras Al Khaimah as a destination that constantly pushes the boundaries of creativity and innovation."

Abu Dhabi's Record-Breaking Fireworks

Not to be outdone, Abu Dhabi also brought its A-game with a 53-minute fireworks display at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba. This impressive display lasted 13 minutes longer than last year’s, which broke four world records in duration, quantity, and design.

The festival set a goal to break six records this year, and although some were yet to be confirmed, the spectacle did not disappoint. The event’s history of record-breaking achievements includes setting the record for the most firework pinwheels (150) and the most girandola (spiraling) fireworks launched in 30 seconds (92).
