Chicken Tikka are grilled chicken pieces that have been marinated with spices and herbs. The dish is part of the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent and makes a delicious meal for iftar with naan bread and chutney.

Chicken Tikka Ingredients

3 chicken breasts, cut into cubes
120 g Greek Yoghurt
2 cloves garlic, grated
1 tbsp minced ginger
Lemon juice from half a lemon
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp mild chilli powder
1 pinch of cinnamon
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp freshly chopped coriander

  1. Marinate Chicken

    In a large bowl, mix chicken breast pieces with yoghurt, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, coriander, turmeric, cumin, paprika, chilli powder, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Cover the bowl and place it in the fridge and marinate for 2 to 3 hours.
  2. Place Marinated Chicken on Skewers

    Remove marinated chicken from fridge and thread onto skewers.
  3. Grill Chicken

    Brush chicken with oil and grill in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until grilled thoroughly.
  4. Garnish and Serve

    Place skewers on the plate and garnish with coriander leaves, then serve.
